This traditional school teaches ancient technique in a relevant and fulfilling manner. We have a full time Dojo in Barnstaple(Contact), and schools in Exeter(Contact) and Braunton. The Shudokan has an exceptional training programme for Juniors.

At the Shudokan we practice a form of 'pre-war' Aikido developed by Soke Gozo Shioda. This man, although small in stature, trained with Morehei Ueshiba (Founder of modern 'Aikido') in a period of his life before and during the transformation of 'Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu' (Secret techniques developed centuries ago by the great Aizu Clan) into the later 'Aikikai' and 'Ki no kenkyukai' schools. The Shudokan, in it's superb technical form and tough but rewarding training format, is proud to carry on these ancient practices. We will bring you something with both history and modern relevance.
Thanks to our Organisation (Shudokan Institute of Aikido International) and its head Sensei Ken Robson (Visit site) we have retained strong ties with our Yoshinkan brethren. If you wish to train and develop yourself then here is the place to do it.
Shudokan Aikido Devon also offers courses in Self Defence and Restraint and Removal, both for security personel and people in the care industry
