Professional Junior Tuition
(a note from Sensei Medland, Director - Shudokan Aikido Barnstaple)
The Shudokan is a full time martial arts school in Barnstaple, North Devon. Our Junior classes start from age 4 with the reception class, moving up when they are ready to Little Dragons and continuing from age 8 with the Cobra Kids. My name is Sensei Andrew Medland. As the director of the school I am personally involved in day to day classes and overall syllabus planning.
The team and I teach martial arts in a traditional manner. Focussing on discipline from the outset. I am extremely proud of our system, marrying together the regimen of traditional practice and modern teaching approaches seemlessly to create an environment that has clear boundaries. We aim to be inclusive and want to encourage children to grow strong as individuals.
Through Aikido training juniors learn about safe practice, sharing, kindness and respect. As they grow we instill focus, confidence and motivation. All of this leads towards a child/young adult who is constantly trying to improve themselves physically, morally and mentally.
