All of our coaches are Sport England qualified.
All of the instructors below have in the past and still do travel widely for our art, to find the very best that Aikido has to offer and bring that training back to the Shudokan, the place to learn the way.
Sensei Andrew Cullerne 5th Dan (Area Coach for Devon)
Andrew is the senior instructor in Devon as part of the 'Shudokan Institute of Aikido International'. This is his 25th year in Aikido.
Barnstaple
Sensei Andrew Medland 3rd Dan (Director - Shudokan Barnstaple)
An ex doorman, and support worker, Andrew is now a full time student and instructor of Aikido. Andrew is the owner of Shudokan Aikido Barnstaple and the primary instructor there.
Started training at the age of 16 under Soke Stratton, Andrew is a 3rd Dan instructor and Programme Director for the Shudokan full time martial arts school in Barnstaple. Andrew has travelled widely to further his ability, including Nottingham (Sensei Ken Robson), Malaysia (Sensei Thamby Rajah) and Melbourne (Sensei Joe Thambu).
Sensei Sarah Cullerne 3rd Dan (Instructor - Shudokan Barnstaple)
Started training at the age of 7. She is a 3rd Dan instructor, and Junior class consultant for Shudokan Aikido Barnstaple. Sarah recently completed a years training full time under Sensei Joe Thambu in Melbourne, Australia and now takes an active role in our Syllabus and Junior programme policies. Sarah is very experienced with this age group and is a qualified primary school teacher.

Sensei Louis Gomme 3rd Dan (Instructor - Shudokan Barnstaple)
First started training under Sensei Andrew Cullerne at the age of 15. He is a 3rd Dan instructor for Shudokan Aikido Barnstaple. He has also travelled for his training, joining Andrew in Malaysia and more recently with Sensei Robert Mustard in Canada.

Sensei Hev Smith 2nd Dan (Instructor - Shudokan Barnstaple)
Heather is a police officer in North Devon. She trains and teaches at the Barnstaple Dojo.
Exeter
Sensei Jeremy Wedgwood 3rd Dan (Instructor - Exeter)
Jeremy is the primary instructor for the Exeter Class.
Ayman Nassar 1st Kyu (Assistant Instructor - Exeter)
Ayman is an Oncologist in Exeter. He assists in classes and is training hard for his first black belt this July.
Braunton
Sensei Jenny Herniman 3rd Dan (Instructor - Barnstaple, Braunton)
A retired police officer, she began training under Soke Stratton on a self defence course. Jenny now teaches in Barnstaple and Braunton and holds the rank of 3rd Dan..
